Weather in Chile
Given that Chile stretches across an immense portion of South America's Pacific Coast, and also has extreme changes in elevations, you will find a variety of climatrs through out the country. The Atacama Desert is a great example of one of these extremes. Here you have a completely dry climate in the north due to the rain shadow from the Andes. There are areas that haven't seen rain in hundreds of years. The area around Santiago has more moderate temperatures and precipitation. As you go further South towards Antartica, it becomes more cool and increasingly moist.
Chile lies in the Southern Hemisphere and summer takes place from December to February. The Winter months run from June to August. Monsoon season takes place during the winter months in the Santiago central valley. They can also experience some snow during this time. The best weather overall when considering your travels is during January to February.
Most regions avearage around 60° F during the summer and around 50 ° F in the winter.
